Afgelopen week ben ik met mijn 300E uit 1986 op vakantie geweest. Eerst naar Stuttgart en later naar Italië. Ik heb temperaturen gehad tussen de 35 en 40 graden. Als ik de auto geparkeerd had en later weer startte stond de temperatuur op 115 graden. De vin sloeg wel aan maar bleef structureel hangen op 110 graden. Wanneer ik eenmaal ging rijden zakte deze naar de 85-90 graden en stond deze op het normale niveau. Filerijden ging vaak het eerste kwartier goed, daarna begon de temperatuur gewoon te stijgen. Ook dan sloeg de vin wel aan maar kreeg het niet aangekoeld.

Is het normaal dat de auto het niet aangekoeld krijgt als ik door de bergen trek of file rij bij deze temperaturen? Of moet de motortemperatuur, ongeacht de situatie, altijd op maximaal 100 graden te krijgen zijn?

Ik had hetzelfde als jij.

Trip door czechie bergen en veel file gehad en ook hoge temperaturen.
Later is bij mij de waterpomp kapot gegaan en nadat ik die had vervangen is mijn temperatuur max 90

Bij het rijden van bergen kan het wel eens zijn maar het zou eigenlijk meestal tegen de 85-90 moeten zitten als de waterpomp en visco goed werken.

Onder de hieronder volgende omstandigheden werd de koelwatertemperatuur van mijn 250D met handbak, nooit hoger dan 100graden Celsius:

45+ graden Celsius buitentemperatuur (Balkan)
Zwaar beladen
Caravan (eveneens vol)
filerijden
bergen met zeer stijle hellingen (moest soms zelfs terug naar de 1e versnelling)

Hoe (enorm) zwaar de omstandigheden ook werden, de temperatuur werd 'gewoon' vastgehouden op maximaal 100 graden Celsius.

Op het moment van dalen met de auto in de bergen, ging de temperatuur snel weer terug naar 85 -90 graden Celsius.

Dit is mijn ervaring.

Dat heeft mijn auto ook. Aan het koelsysteem ligt het niet want de radiateur en thermostaat had ik vorig jaar vervangen en de waterpomp is 2 jaar oud. De koeling werkt ook zoals het hoort.
Na motor uit 115 graden is ook normaal want hij kan de warmte niet kwijt. Zodra de motor loopt is er weer circulatie en koeling en zal het weer snel zakken. Zolang je fan aanslaat zou ik me geen zorgen maken. Geef anders bij stilstand ietsjes meer gas zodat de fan sneller gaat draaien.
Diesels hebben daar minder last van.

300TE : Net terug van retourtje Spanje ( met caravan erachter ) , aircootje lekker aan, stevig moeten trekken in de bergen maar de temperatuur tikje met rijden de 100 graden eigenlijk zelden/nauwelijks aan. In file liep wel temperatuur keertje hoger op en dan zorgde de fan ervoor dat temperatuur langzaamaan netjes terugliep.

Dan is het tijd om nieuwe visco koppeling te monteren. (Of is dat bij die M103 een magneetkoppeling?)
Deze heeft als doel om de motortemperatuur op pijl te houden wanneer het voertuig stil staat en stationair staat te draaien.
Zit de radiator niet verstopt van het vuil?

Visco kan.Kunt hem testen:Als die stationair draait je hand ertussen doen en als het heel erg pijn doet dan doet die het goed en als die blijft hangen dan weet je dat die niet meer in orde is ff serieus je kunt ipv hand ook iets anders pakken.

Zoals ik al eerder zei:Bij mij was een falende waterpomp die langzaam maar zeker niet meer goed zijn werk deed en kortom na de vakantie lekte hij.

Check eerst je visco fan of die goed draait als hij warm is(stationair)

Je doet de auto uit, en dan pak je die fan.
Daarna start iemand anders de auto, en dan begin je met voelen.
Als je geen druk voelt dat hij wil draaien is hij kapot.
Voel je wel druk dan is hij goed

Die andere manier gaat je onnodig pijn doen.

Je kan trouwens ook kijken hoelang hij door blijft draaien na het afslaan van de motor

Dit is stilstaan bij stoplichten/stationair en zowat mijn max temp

Hopelijk heb je hier wat aan.

Had tijdens de vacantie, bij een omgevingstemp van bijna 40 graden dezelfde temperaturen zoals Mischa aangeeft.
Ook tijdens de file geen hogere temperatuur.

Bedankt voor de reacties. Ik weet hoe de temperatuur normaal moet staan, ik heb nog een W124.

Ik vroeg het mij echter af, gezien ik nog nooit in zulke hoge temperaturen heb gereden. Echter, ik realiseerde mij van de week dat de auto het ook niet aangekoeld kreeg toen we flink steil naar boven gingen in de Dolomieten in Italië. 2 kilometer klimmen met een gangetje van 40 kilometer per uur zorgde ook voor een te hoge motortemperatuur. Dan zal het vermoedelijk de waterpomp zijn? Binnenkort even naar de garage.

Haal je riem eraf en draai je waterpomp met de hand en hoor of je rare geluiden hoort.

Bij mij hoorde heel duidelijk een schurend geluid.Mvg

Alles even goed doorspoelen met water en citroenzuur, radiateur is nog niet zo oud las ik maar dan reinigt de rest zoals het blok intern ook.

Heb ik ook gedaan na een vergelijkbare situatie in Italië en het is aanzienlijk beter geworden met koelen.

Kwam ook een boel smurrie uit bij het reinigen.
