Archivering website W124-club?

Hallo allen,

De website van onze W124-club staat boordevol, zeer waardevolle informatie. Duizenden posts over duizenden onderwerpen, van onschatbare waarde voor ons allemaal én voor het nageslacht.

Vanuit professioneel oogpunt (ik ben archivaris en hou me al 35 jaar bezig met analoge en digitale archivering) denk ik wel eens: stel dat de website om wat voor reden dan ook uit de lucht gaat, is er dan een 1-op-1 kopie beschikbaar die 'on the fly' weer online is? Of draait er op de achtergrond een gemirrorde omgeving? Of wellicht is er een (geautomatiseerde) backup, zodat we weer snel toegang hebben tot de website?

Ik heb geen idee of er een backup is of dat de website professioneel wordt gearchiveerd. Wat ik wel weet:

Er is een man in de USA, genaamd Brewster Kahle, die zich tot doel heeft gesteld om het gehele internet te archiveren: 365 dagen per jaar, 24/7 volledig geautomatiseerd. Al sinds 1996...
Met behulp van speciale algoritmes wordt het complete WWW afgestruind en worden van websites zgn. snapshots gemaakt. Inmiddels zijn 366 miljard (!) webpagina's gearchiveerd. Je kunt alle pagina's van bijna alle websites terugvinden in de 'Wayback Machine': https://web.archive.org/
