Mooie foto’s!

Prachtige foto's, maar met zo'n mooie W124 en zo'n locatie is het moeilijk om slechte foto's te maken
Ik heb onlangs ook een 250D gekocht, zal hem hier eens moeten voorstellen..

Mooi man, lekker met je oude Benz door Europa.

Mooie foto's en ditto W124. M'n 230E is ook in het mooie silberdistelgrün-metallic.

Ik ben zeker in Duitsland en Italië erg weinig W124's tegengekomen. In Duitsland geen enkele, eigenlijk. Oostenrijk was iets beter bedeeld.

Nummer 3 kan echt rechtstreeks in een folder, wat een mooie foto zeg!

Helaas is de W124 uitverkocht en worden ook geen nieuwe folders uitgegeven.

Maar hartelijk dank voor het compliment! Het is in Limone sul Garda, op een parkeerplaats van het hotel.
De SS45 "Via Gardesana Occidentale" geldt als een van de mooiste wegen van Europa.

Mag ik dit lijntje even doorzetten betreft het reizen met de oude Benz?
Ben zelf namelijk met 2 van de 3 kids do vakantie geweest naar Praag voor een weekje.
Na de auto goed onderhanden te hebben genomen, was deze wel klaar voor de rit.
Niet super ver weg maar wel 1600 km op en neer. Veel snelweg natuurlijk.
En dan wel de Duitse snelweg wel te verstaan….

Mijn zoon vroeg hoe had je in Duitsland mag rijden. Dan weet je genoeg.
Ofwel hoe hard gaat de Benz nog?
Het was rustig op de weg dus eens kijken…
En ja de wijzer ging net over de 200 heen! Met correctie zo’n 195 km per uur.
Niet slecht met 400 km op de teller nog best wat pk’s over.
Maar wat mij meer opviel was de rust waarmee de auto het deed.
Voelde gewoon heel stabiel en qua windgeruis ook minimal.
Zelfs degene die achterin zat merkte het niet.
Echte Autobahn auto’s!
Zo’n 5 minuten volgehouden, toen vond ik het wel genoeg.
Is tenslotte een auto van 25 jaar oud en ik wilde nog wel de vakantie bestemming halen..

Eenmaal aangekomen in Praag, moest ik de auto ergens kwijt.
Via airbnb had ik een appartement gehuurd aan de rand van het centrum.
Parkeren is daar wel een probleem, allemaal vergunning houders.
Vlak bij het appartement lag een stuk grond braak met een hek eromheen.
Geheel leeg met wel een 06 nummer erop.
Ik gebeld en tegen een vergoeding mocht ik hem daar neerzetten.
De auto stond er wel eenzaam bij zoals je op de foto kan zien, maar wel redelijk veilig.
Je kent de Stad nu eenmaal niet en weet niet wat je kunt verwachten.
Naderhand kom je erachter dat het een hele relaxte stand is.
Eén groot open lucht museum.

Wat betreft andere Benzen..
2 W124 ben ik tegen gekomen op de weg er naartoe.
Een Duitse station, gaf mij een duimpje en reed snel voorbij en een witte sedan.
In Praag helemaal niks. Bijna geen oude auto’s gezien, nog wel een 190 en een W126 maar dat was het.
Wel leuk, in een dure straat van Praag met Bentley’s en Ferrari’s stond nog oude Mercedes Bus.

Terug ging na 2 files voorspoedig.
Heb tussen de 140 en 160 gereden.
Dan rij je eigenlijk met het verkeer mee..
Zonder problemen geen olieverbruik of koel verbruik.
Maar toch ging er iets niet goed… Verloor bijna mijn linke knipperlicht!
Allebei de pinnetjes afgebroken aan de voorzijde.
Even een stukkie tape erover en we konden weer verder.
En..de airco liet het af en toe afweten.
Nu was het niet zo warm op de terugweg dus was dat ook niet erg.
Maar dat laat ik nog nakijken.
Dus onder aan de streep een probleemloze rit en zeker voor een auto met die leeftijd en km stand.
Dit was natuurlijk wel een snelweg avontuur. Binnendoor is natuurlijk mooier, maar dat was nu geen optie.
Al zijn dit wel snelweg auto’s. Misschien de volgende reis niet…

Heb helaas niet zo’n mooie foto’s met de Benz erop.
Wel van de stad zelf, echt een foto genieke stad!
Ofwel een aanrader. Kun je meteen je Benz testen…

Leuk om te lezen. Ook ik heb de terugweg flink doorgejakkerd, 140-160 kan de wagen gemakkelijk volhouden, wel met een iets hoger verbruik dan bij onze sukkelsnelheden van 100 km/u maar ook niet ovedreven.
Mijn vorige W124 was een 200D die ik wegdeed bij 616.000 kilometer en die hoefde tussen de verversingen (15.000 km) ook nooit bijgevuld te worden. Ik ververs iets ruimer dan de fabrieksopgave wegens de vele kilometers die de auto maakt.

Praag is een fijne, mooie stad. Lekker bier! De eerste keer dat ik er kwam was in 1991, toen reden er eigenlijk bijna alleen Skoda's rond, destijds waren dat de oudere types met motor achterin en de veel modernere Favorit. Ook de meeste taxi's waren toen Skoda 130. Paar keer in meegereden en die dingen reden gewoon goed als taxi.

Kortom: de W124 doet nog steeds waarvoor hij gemaakt is: met het grootste gemak comfortabel en zuinig kilometers vreten.

Mooi door die plaatjes krijg ik ook weer de kriebel om er een voor dagelijks erbij te kopen
