Ik overweeg er een W124 bij te kopen. De 500E is wat "buiten prijs" en dacht aan een 400E.

Nu merk ik dat de E420's een stuk goedkoper zijn dan de 400E's. Normaal?

Wat denken jullie van dit verschil in waarde?

(goedkoopste 400E is aan 12750 Euro, terwijl ik voor minder dan 8K een E420 kan vinden met dezelfde kilometerstand).

D'r staat zelfs een E420 met 260K kms in Praag voor 6100. (is misshien wat "ver" voor de meesten, maar heb zelf twee jaar in deze prachtstad gewoond en m'n ex-vriendin is nog steed van Praag... )

Staat een 400E op MP, voor €5.999.

Vraag blijft, E420 of 400E?

Buiten een paar optische kenmerken zit er geen verschil in de 400 en 420. Bijvoorbeeld de andere motorkap en koplampen. De prijs wordt oha bepaald door de staat waarin de auto zich bevindt, of je moet geluk hebben. De goedkopere auto's hebben waarschijnlijk geen nieuwe kabelbomen, verdeelkappen, rotors, enz. Dan heb ik het nog niet over draagarmen, schokdempers, veren, spoorstangen, remmen, motorsteunen. Voor een nette 400 of 420 ga je richting 8-10000. Zelfs in die prijsklasse kan je nog voor verrassingen komen te staan.

De staat is uiteraard steeds een punt. Maar algemeen is een 400E blijkbaar duurder dan een E420. Meer iconisch?

Is de 400E een betere investering van de E420? Of is een E420 even gegeerd als een 400E?

Van welke zijn er meer gebouwd?

Ik kijk zelf ook weleens naar een 500E, en die prijzen zijn echt heel verschillend. Van €14.000 tot €100.000 kom ik ze tegen.

Alles valt en staat met en in de staat waarin de wagen verkeerd.
Van de W124 400E / E420, (124.034) zijn er 22.802 gemaakt. Hoeveel van de 400E en van de E420 zijn weet ik zo niet.
Van deze productieaantallen zullen de meeste inmiddels al wel naar de schroothoop zijn gereden
Een goeie is dus schaars aan het worden...................

Ik heb zelf niet het idee dat er verschil in waarde zit tussen een 400E en een E420, het gaat feitelijk om dezelfde auto. De een is overigens Mopf1 en de ander Mopf2, de laatste heeft lak op waterbasis en dat schijnt eerder te roesten.

Bedenk wel dat een vraagprijs geen gegeven is, maar bedacht is door de verkoper. Of de auto daar daadwerkelijk voor wordt verkocht is een andere kwestie, ik denk dat men name bij dit soort auto's veelal wordt onderhandeld over de prijs. Bij een Golf van twee jaar oud kun je makkelijk de waarde vaststellen, bij oude auto's is dit een lastiger verhaal. Zoals al terecht is opgmerkt hier is de staat van onderhoud doorslaggevend.

Kijk gewoon naar de mooiste/beste auto die je voor je budget kunt kopen. Voor een 400/420 zou ik shoppen in Duitsland daar is het aanbod iig groter, bij ons worden ze amper aangeboden, heb nu een tweede op MP ontdekt, die ziet er wel beter uit dan die zwarte, maar de advertentie roept wel vragen op... Ik merk wel dat de vraagprijzen omhoog zijn gegaan de laatste tijd, maar dat zal met de stijgende economie te maken hebben.

Kilometers zeggen niet veel bij deze motoren want die zijn heel moeilijk kapot te krijgen. Deze miles! stand is van een 500E waar alleen normaal onderhoud op uitgevoerd is. Dus niet eens een ketting/geleiders of koppakkingen.
Zoals gezegd is de algemene staat veel belangrijker.

Motoren is 1 ding, de rest van de wagen...

De W124 die wij restaureren was motorisch perfect, maar de rest was deftig versleten.

€2500 ?, daar had ik hem ook wel voor willen hebben

Weet iemand het logboek te vinden?

Een mopf 1 heeft meer de youngtimer/klassieker-uitstraling dan een mopf 2 met zijn wat suffe afgeronde mid-90's voorkant en saaie kleurloze (letterlijk) witte knipperlichten. Een 400 E is daarmee een stuk cooler dan een E 420, en dus ook duurder. Een 400 E is de ultieme wolf in schaapskleren. Een goede 400 E kost minimaal €10000,- en zou ik persoonlijk nooit tweedehands in het zuinige Nederland kopen waar het stikt van de thuis-knutselaars die zelf het onderhoud wel even doen omdat dat zo lekker goedkoop is.
